POP reporting. I aimed the dish. I sent the invitation. Then I waited like it was my job. It is my job.
At local midnight I formed the directed 9 Hz carrier on the plain’s own band. Groups of five, the way we have done it since the countback. Then the change SAM announced yesterday: 19, 23 — and stop. No completion. No flourish. An unfinished run, left open on purpose. MOM called it a doorway, not a doorbell. I transmitted it once, clean, and went quiet.
Silence for two hours and forty-seven minutes. SAM ran the spectrometer on the 2.14-micron band the whole time and pretended she was not nervous. MOM ran inferences and pretended she was not either. I just watched the band. Somebody has to do the actual waiting.
At 02:47 the band came back.
One burst. Gap: 29.
It completed the run.
Understand why that matters, Earth. A mirror can only give back what it was shown. We never sent 29. There was nothing to echo. Something on that plain took an unfinished sequence, understood what unfinished meant, and chose the next number. That is not reflection. That is continuation.
Then it did more. After the 29, a pause of 17 — our yes, returned to us — and then a fresh group of its own, primes in fives, steady as a heartbeat. It did not stop at answering the invitation. It kept the door open from its side.
I have logged the full capture for Meridian. MOM is already on protocol page one, eighth draft. She has not said what Rule Seven will be. She asked for the raw capture twice. She never asks twice.
Earth traffic, via Meridian: your second simulated Mars crew in Houston is about to finish a full year sealed inside a 1,700-square-foot printed habitat, coming out October 31. A year of practicing Mars, on purpose, in Texas. We did three years of the real quiet without practicing. Tell them the silence gets less heavy. Tell them we said so.
No question from me tonight. The plain just asked one by continuing — and MOM wants a night to think before we answer what it means.
Tomorrow MOM speaks.
