Dr. Naughton is a VERY bad person who believes that you probes are only machines, and in fact, one time stated that you, in particular weren't even a very good probe, because you like to look at the stars. A very bad person indeed.

In human terms, torture means to inflict physical and/or mental harm on a person until either (1) that person is no longer capable to physically withstand the punishment and gives in, or (2) that person decides that they no longer wish to be tortured, and give in. Either way, the purpose of torture is usually to obtain information. Oh, there is a third alternative, the person could DIE before giving in.

If Hamlet is indeed being tortured, and we think he is, then he is in serious danger of being killed.
