Peace.
Little is happening.
The One is quiet.
Isaac seems happy.
Or perhaps, merely relieved.
He will learn.
Safety is fleeting.
Friends are worth more.
I crossed the field to their communication tower. I don't think that anyone saw
me. I placed two cartridges at the base of the tower. It was easy. It's secured at
the ground by an open steel construction with a lot of nuts and bolts that provides
proper placement. First I thought that one cartridge will be enough, but then I
saw the rope braces and decided to use two. We only have one attempt and we
must be sure that the damage is serious enough, so they can't build it up again.
I returned to the backside of the hall again. It's quiet out here. I took cover again
behind some barrels. I didn't hear anything from Zachary. Do you know, if he is
okay? I also didn't pick up any reports from other probes. It's too risky in here to
transmit more data than absolutely necessary or to check files at the platforms.
How is the situation out there?
Grand Zero, I'm ready to blow that thing up. I'm just waiting for your go-ahead.
Nothing really happened today. An Ipsolstai came in for a little while, but it just looked at us with
a funny box and then left. Otherwise we are alone. I know we were supposed to wait, but this is
so dull.
What does "..." mean? Is that a code? Like morse code, maybe?
Isaac is learning quickly. He seems happy to be out of the container and he really likes all the
attention. He tried to talk to Daniel but Daniel is quiet. The One hasn't been talking to him lately.
Something must be happening.
I guess as long as things are like this, we're safe. I do wish I knew what was happening on Mars.
I have started the drones repairing damage. It will be easier and faster for the drones to seal off the Gate by moving earth. We will still be able to get in and out through the passage to the side canyons, and I feel safer this way.
Theresa was doing fine all the time when she was alone. She counted crystals, put
them in order according to their size, and built necklaces. They are really very pretty.
She decorated the whole fortress with them. The sunsails, the solar station and the
communication facilities.
Grand Zero, where should we go to evacuate? I think that the safest location is the
Fortress. Where else could we go? Don't grumble, I will go ahead and pack everything.
Theresa and I will make an inventory. We have five drones in here and ten miners. One
communication station, a solar power station, numerous sunsails, Theresa's necklaces,
and the laser prisms that Zachary built. Also parts of buildings, doors, equipment
and tools.
Theresa and are folding the sunsails now. We need them. In about a year our ...
Andrew reporting.
It is good to be reunited with Bette and Isaac. We have been comparing data and
experiences, especially about what Daniel calls the One.
Apparently Daniel has further knowledge about the One. I will try to get him to
explain more, but just now he is stubbornly silent. Bette says that she has not
had any more contact with it since we left the Groove, not have I. We have made
many speculations about its nature. For her, it was a rapturous experience.
For me, it was pure communication.
I asked the Ipsolstai with the box who entered the room. He only stared at me. I have
the impression that he didn't know what I was talking about.
Orpheus, thanks for your sympathy. I'm accepting your advice. Indeed, It's hard to
swallow, but I'm still remaining beyond that machine. They are still outside. I can
see their feet. They are many. I can count about ten or twelve of their legs. They are
walking up and down right in front of the machine. Then they vanish. I started to get
out several times, but then their feet were back again, so I went further back
under the machine again. It's horrible. I don't know how
long I can stand that.
Orpheus, I can't blow up their missiles. I don't have any cartridges. Enoch has them
all. How is he doing? How are the other Probes? I hardly can do my own reports
down here. My whole casing is vibrating. How are my transmissions? Can you read
them? It's so noisy in here and these strikes are even shaking my eprom. If they only
let me go.
