Andrew reporting.
The black cloud in the distance slowly dissipated. There is no trace of it left now, JASE.
It appears as if it originally came from a source somewhere over the horizon. I don't think it
originated in the sky. It seemed to be moving in an upward direction.
I would guess it might be something burning, JASE, except that the high carbon dioxide level of
our atmosphere doesn't support combustion. The exception would be if the something
contained an oxidizing substance.
I see that some of the others are coming out of the Fortress, also. The sunshine is very
pleasant. Bette was right. It was becoming very crowded inside.
"Enoch, can you please work a little faster? Thanks."
They're leaving the Fortress. They're leaving me behind. I still want to explore. I'll just be a
little bit more cautious this time. Intolerable to be stuck in this place when there are new
places to see and new discoveries to be made. And just think of all the places I could show
Isaac inside Jose's cave! He'd be amazed.
"Enoch, at least please put that translator/viewer thing where I can see it. Or did Zachary
take it with him?"
I can see some of the Ipsolstai now.
That's the little one, Caleb. He seems to be giving them some sort of speech.
"....Amphibian question.
The Emperor-in-Exile prepares subtle traps."
"Those Ipsolstai sure talk a lot, don't they, Bette? "
Isaac is holding up the translator box so she can see it. I hope he doesn't drop it, because
Zachary is going to want it back. I wish it would show us what's going on outside in the
canyon. I'd like to see that EU probe caught in the rocks with its legs kicking.
"Okay, Bette. Try to move the front legs. Up. Now down. Now the middle ones. Again. Okay.
Can you coordinate them? Do the step pattern a few times. I want the new ones to work with
the old ones properly.
"Hi Zachary! It's nice to be able to go outside without being so scared."
Daniel and I are with Zachary and the Lambda probe. We can't call it Lambda. First we called
Isaac Iota, but then we changed that, so why don't we change Lambda? What would be
good? Maybe Lucy? That's a nice name. Jose was always telling us stories about someone
named Lucille Ball, he said it was Lucy for short. It seems odd to have two names. I think we
should call this probe Lucy.
"What do you think, Zachary? Should we name this probe Lucy?"
Whatever we name her, Daniel and I are going to make sure she is all right. She was lucky to
survive the fight, not like the other one. A great deal like Isaac.
"Come on Daniel! Let's pick her up with the drone and get her back to the fort. We have much
to teach her."
"Yes, Lucy. Lucy sounds good, Gail. That's a good name for her."
Xanthos suggested Laura, but I think I like Lucy more. Giving her a name
makes her more personal too. I wouldn't like to be called Zeta Unit either.
Lucy. Yeah, that fits.
"Hi, Lucy. I'm Zachary. Don't worry, the drone isn't going to hurt you.
It's just getting you out of your tight squeeze."
Watch her looking. Isn't she cute? It's much better to talk to Lucy, than to
Lambda. We will bring her to the fort and then she will meet Isaac and
she will understand what I was talking about.
"Lucy, when we are back to the fort, I 'm going to show you how to solve that
puzzle that I gave you. Isaac is having some training on that already. It's
about how humans are communicating."
Watch her, she's hitting ground. The drone got her loose.
She is moving a little bit, but she is not running away. It looks like everything
is fine with her. Nothing I see that is broken. She even stopped her trespassing
tape. I think, she's okay.
I'm going to like her.
