Q: Was Orpheus' Message, sent via Gail, a wise thing to do?

There is a lot of information "between the lines" in what was said. For instance, how is it we saw the profile she has on us? Do we really want to put her so much on her guard that she becomes essentially unavailable to us? Telling her we have seen it will make her suspicious there is a leak and will make it much more difficult to get at her when we most need to.

The word artifacts is used. If we use that word in a message to her then we are confirming they exist and are "up for grabs." I'd rather keep her a little off center with the smallest of self-doubt as to whether or not there are such things.

Declarations of a desire for freedom are romantic but will not achieve a thing with someone as ruthless as Ms. Chang and B-B. I agree it is important to keep that issue alive, but we have to be realistic in the way we see her perception of the Probes. To her they are simulated children to be manipulated and used. That is not the direction from which a recognition of sentience will result. We must seek that end, but we must do it systematically.

Why are we suggesting threats at this time? Are we the barbarians of which we accuse B-B of being? If not (and I presume that is your answer) then why are we behaving as if it is? "Strong-arm tactics" is an ametuer's phraseology. A professional arm-breaker would never openly discuss the matter, it would all be done with code words. Either learn the right lingo or drop that idea. It is more likely to backfire than to succeed.

Orpheus, I applaud your enthusiasm and determination to do something about that infernal witch. We will put her in her place, and I predict you will be an integral part of that, but we must be careful how we go about it. If we show our hand to soon and it is all low cards, we will be laughed away from the table and all our hard work will be for naught. We must be fully prepared for what is to come and we must do what we can to ensure she is not. Your message arms her more than it alarms her. That is where I feel you went wrong.
