Why on Earh would it be so hard for the probes to understand biological sexual reproduction? The concepts are pretty simple, and the probes would have none of the human problems with being embarrased by the topic. For that matter, why ARE humans (on the whole) embarassed when they have to explain the concepts to their children? Reproduction is one of the most fundemantal blocks of human life, and some would argue it is our primary function. Why is it considered bad to have children informed in the truth of what it is? Isn't this a much better alternative than having thm belive all sorts of misinformation, some of it even including strange birds delivering children to a home? I know when I was younger I always found it amusing that my friends actually believed that story. Boy1 did my folks get in trouble when my friends' parents found out I was setting their kids straight on basic animal biology. ;) Sorry about the ranting, I hope I didn't offend anyone.
BTW, while we are on this topic, would someone please explain to the probes some basic info about biology in general? AL-Q could you send them a file telling them just what a plant is, an what makes humans humans, etc. I had assumed they had been taught some of this on Earth, but I guess not, judging by Bette's confusion with the plant's "access panel." Thanks,
Hamlet
