I am curious. Daniel has spoken with The ONE and now so has Bette. We presume that both have traveled The Groove when doing so. Lest we forget, Zachary and Isaac also traveled The Groove, but they did not report such a sensation. What does that tell us?
What we [think we] know:
1) Daniel and Bette were both altered by the Ipsos before they went through.
2) Isaac was also modified but did not have the same experiential references of Bette.
3) Zachary was not altered in any way before being sent through.
4) Daniel's ability to express himself is stunted. He may not be able to express the sensations of "being ONE" as Bette is able to do.
5) The Groove and The ONE are significantly interrelated.
6) The Groove is NOT Ipso technology.
7) Bette and Isaac found a device in the tunnel that may have been a means of communicating with, or becoming part of, The ONE. Could it have been a Groove Anchor?
8) The Ipsos use of water (or water compounds) holds a religious quality. The CUP was probably something used in a reigious ritual. When Isaac damaged it, it was probably seen by the religious Ipsos as bad a desecration as the tearing of a Torah, the burning of a Bible or Koran, etc.
9) Not all Ipsos are "Orthodox" in their beliefs. Some are willing to accept ignorance as a reason for not understanding the agregious slight an action could portend.
