I have been thinking a lot about the surprising exchange between those two. I have reached a point where I have narrowed my thoughts to these hypothesis:

1) Burn and Caleb.s are mates
...Then Burn said that (s)he will be ashamed of any offspring from their union

2) Burn is Caleb.s' parent
...Then Burn said (s)he is ashamed Caleb.s is its offspring

3) Burn is Caleb.s' child
...Then Burn said (s)he is ashamed to be the offspring of Caleb.s

Notice I have been fanatic about staying gender neutral above. We do not know what the Ipso genders are, or how many. Perhaps the entire pod (or a good majority) of Ipsos is required to procreate. Making such a statement about Caleb.s is then tantamount to declaring it unfit to reproduce and its genetic lineage should be terminated. That could be a severe insult and the reason why the reaction was as it appeared.

Whatever the case, Burn has now turned a corner in the debate that cannot be reversed. Now the other Ipsos are going to be forced to choose sides. Is that good or bad? I don't know. I hope Burn does.
