dani brings up a good point, one that I was considering myself. Could our friends have stumbled into an amphibean tunnel system. The glyphs on the airlock and/or the symbol definitely don not look Ipso in origin. I say that Bette and Isaac press on, full steam ahead. I have never been fully convinced that the Amphibeans were the bad guys in the conflict with the Ipsos anyway.
