I'm not getting a good feeling about the trap either. Has it been established the relative distances between the C-Probe's ground station, and the trap. It may be reasonable to have a plan to attack the ground station if things are going poorly with the trap. Since it is reasonable to expect the C-Probe to come to the aide of the ground station. The problem becomes then, what to do with a mad C-probe.

We know that the c-Probe's ground station is giving off pulses. If it isn't in the radar range, it may be interesting to jam the frequency with a lot of noise. If that is how it is communicating with the C-Probe then we may be able to confuse or stop it. Since Bette and Isaac are really the only 2 safe ones, why not have them jam the frequency, since clearly you would not be giving away the location.

Back to the trap... If the Chinese can send a probe to mars (not to mention making it battle ready) they probably figured out how to keep it from falling in OR getting out of a pit.
