Good points, I had thought of the problem with the probe in the tunnel and forgot to mention it. My solution was the same as yours - build a long tunnel. I like the idea of setting up four other targets for our "misguided friend." I don't like the idea of ignoring him. Also, I would much rather convert him than waste his destructive abilities (OK, this is not quite within our goals, but we will need to defend ourselves eventually. If not against the Ipsos or Destructo's possible buddies, then against future threats. Notice how these threats keep escalating?) Besides, he can still hurt our probes and equipment by running over them.
I just had a brain flash! Predent for a moment that you are in charge of Chinese Probe development. You know there are other probes up there, so you develop one big bad probe to destroy them. Would you only arm it with nine missiles??? No other armament? Once he uses those missiles he would be helpless, and it doesn't seem like the Communist Army to make anything that can become helpless that easily (I was raised in Eastern Europe before the fall of the USSR). There should to be more to this probe.
