I am not so certain she intends to merge with Daniel. She may feel that she needs to seek out an EU-probe to make amends for killing one of its team. Her sense of guilt could easily lead her to conclude giving herself to them and becoming the "missing link in Probe evolution" may be the answer.
The danger I see here is she may decide to give the EU-probes the AI software and files that make our Probes sentient. If they gain that independence without the benefit of supervision by a stable personality, we could have a whole new and very dangerous ballgame on our hands.
