IFF=Identify Friend or Foe

This is an upcoming problem. We need to have a way for the ETs to tell the difference between 'our' probes and B-B's probes. There may be external differences, but they may be too slight for the ETs to notice, especially if they have to make a quick decision to fire/hold fire.

Two methods that come to mind right now are electronic IFF transponders like aircraft have or painting the probes. The problem with the electronic method is that the ETs have to have receivers on them (and turned on) in order to work. A paint job is not likely to be duplicated by B-B's probes unless they, too, ally with the ETs.

And all of this brings us to the question of: When do we tell the ETs that company's coming, and they're not likely to be housebroken?
