WSU: It could be that she is being reassembled by the ETs. Taking something apart is easy. Putting it back together is harder, and the difficulty of reassembly has to increase exponentially as the technology increases. If they have some of the assembly steps wrong, the power could be on as the processors are connected, starting the boot-up procedure.
Or, in the same vein, they could be fiddling with wires to see what goes where (Is this where the red wire goes? ZZOT!!! Nope, try this one....).
There is also the possibilty that what was designed by humans for assembly by human hands or tools are very difficult for the ETs to manipulate and they are having a hard time getting a good connection.
