Actually, I don't think that current evolutionary theories say that we're descended from frogs and toads (although I can think of one or two rather "slimy" individuals that I've known that would lend credence to that theory). That line branched off a very long time ago, perhaps even before the first mammals. As for the "aquatic ape" theory (which I think says that we began walking upright in order to make it easier to wade across deep streams in order to get at food sources), I don't think that it is widely accepted. Someone suggested that they don't mean amphibian in the same sense we do. Maybe they are refering to creature whose lifecycles encompass two different environments, but not necessarily water and land or the transition from gills (or whatever tadpoles have) to lungs.
