I think that both issues 1 and 2 need to be addressed.

In reference to issue 1, I don't think that making any mention of humans NOT coming would be wise, since there is a good chance that humans ARE coming in the not too distant future. If language were less of an issue, I'd think that this would be OK, but right now it's subject to too much (mis)interpretation. Perhaps the trench issue is a good opening for the probes. Since they were for defense against the J-probe, Enoch may be able to request assistance from the ETs in protecting themselves and each other. If granted, this would be a "touchdown for the good guys". All sorts of avenues of exploration would open up. This would clearly move the probes' exploration focus from geophysical to sociological. They are not prepared for this, but that's why we are their Advisory League.

In reference to issue 2, Enoch has expressed concern for the safety of the wounded ET and now may be the right time to make the same inquiry of Bette. Continued displays of compassion would look really good in contrast to the J-probe's hostility.

All of issue 3's questions are in my mind, too. But they are back-burner right now.

How about some form of the following for Enoch:

"I am glad your brother is OK. The trenches are to protect us against Gen. Can you help us? We can work together against Gen. We wish to be friends with you. Are Bette and Daniel OK?"

This is just a start. I'm feeling very well right now and my thought processes are a little boggy. I'll try to post more later.
