Several possibilities for the next message to the ETs suggest themselves to me, but I think we should tackle one thing at a time. Which of the first two do you all think is more important at this time? Or is there some other issue that Enoch should address first?

1.) Explain that the probes' original mission was explore Mars and to build a base for their mammal friends, but those mammal friends aren't coming after all, and that they have dug trenches on the surface to protect themselves from the Gen probe. Also, now that they know that Mars is inhabited, they want to become friends with this ET and his brothers.

2.) Draw a picture of Bette. Ask why they hurt Bette. Tell them that Bette did not want to hurt them. She was just curious.Ask them if they can fix Bette. Ask similar questions about Daniel. This line of inquiry may also require Enoch to explain that he and Daniel were damaged during the landing.

3.) Other things that I'd like to know are: Where do the ETs come from? Are they most like Earth amphibians, mammals, or something else, if analogy can even be made? Why do they have a base/anchor on Mars? How did they learn English? How long have they been observing Earth?
