I have another explanation. The multicolored metal/not metal is some sort of two-way monitor. The colors would mean something to the ETs. As a camera, it is activated by movement in the proximity. The J-probe tried to taste it, like our probes did, and there was a "ZAP". The J-probe was/is blinded like Bette and Enoch were, and the "camera" is temporarily out of order.<p>joule
