No the trenches won't be of much help. We would need to build them much deeper. I think
about 10 m about and even broader. Remember who acrobatically Bette and Enoch went
down the 200 ft deep shaft. Much effort and probably even dangerous to our probes too. --

In my opinion best protection will be the Fortress only reachable by tunnels, though we
still have to think about traps, locks and hidden by-passes. -- Concerning the Degaussing
debate we could lead the H&P-Probes through an electromagnetic field in the tunnels.
Should be possible to establish by some copper wires if available by our resources. --
That would pop out the eyes of H&P[s' skulls]!! Do we have some copper, Dr.D ??
