Actually, I was thinking maybe we could play the different MN's off one another. It is likely that P&H could have also observed the landing from Earth, but don't know whose it is or how many probes they have, etc. Gail could transmit the facts to them -- just that there is one probe and what it's message is. P&H's bosses might not appreciate Gen-Exploration's claim: "Warning, all existing technology and future discoveries on Mars are now property of Gen-Exploration and its parent companies." and sic their own lawyers on them. If the companies are busy bickering, they may not be effective at controlling their own probes making the J-probe less of a threat and the EU-probes easier to befriend when they arrive. On the other hand, we risk the Europeans and Japanese teaming up (can you say "merger"?) and/or the J-probe becoming aggressive in laying its claim to alien technology (possession is 9/10ths).

What do y'all think?
