Unfortunately, others who we encounter might not be as noble. If our probes are attacked without provocation, do they have the right (with our guidance) to defend themselves?
If they do have the right to defend themselves, they DO have the right to booby trap the lander to blow if someone tampers with it - since if that tampering is an effort to destroy the transmitter is an attack.
In short, I think we owe it to the probes to give them every tool, trick, trap we can to enable them to respond to agression - I have not suggested we initiate agression.
