The old joke is that you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand.

I also am not any type of scientist, but wouldn't a rocket designed to launch into orbit need to be much bigger than one to slow the decent of a lander? Also, I would be very concerned about the chance of disastor. The lander sustainded damage on landing and might not be as streamlined or strong now.
