I have seen several suggestions to place the transmitter (presumably also the antenna) into a cave. Dr. D might have to correct me, but I don't think this will work - only the ELF transmissions between the probes and the transmitter can go through stone. Antenna will need to be in open for proper operation (remember, we don't have the strongest signal to start with)

Second problem is that if we plan to move the transmitter to a safe location Jose's cave is the worst choice since it is one of the few locations which EVERYONE knows about. It was Jose's discovery of that cave and the metal-not-metal in it which made the MN's so interested in going to Mars. If I were them, it would be the first place I would go. How about placing it out of reach somewhere and bury most of it? Our landers are quite agile, perhaps they can place it somewhere where it won't be easily found or approached.

Building a fortification might be a good idea. Although I am not sure what the ET's would think of us sealing up their tunnels. They shot at, took prisioner and (apparently) dismantled one of our probes for wandering around and pushing buttons.

If you agree with my thinking that the MN's will target the lander or Jose's cave, can we prepare a suprise for them when they arrive? Also, I really liked the suggestion to take out P&H's lander/transmitter. How can we predict / control it's landing location so we can be prepared to take it out after their probes unload?

Are we using all of our available resources?
