I guess I didn't make myself clear. While it is true that little would be lost in terms of actual ground covered, the loss would be more an emotional loss of ground. As an emergency medical type person, you have probably been involved in search and rescue type operations. Have you ever been involved with one where enough time passed that the chances of finding any live victims is nil. While never having participated myself, it seems to me that the urgency wears off and emotions sink and enthusiasm wanes. Nobody wants to find the dead bodies. While it is certainly true that Bette may not technically be dead, abandoning the search at this point might very well seem to Andrew, and especially Enoch like we are giving her up for "dead".

I may be way off here, but it is just my $.02 worth.
