We have absolutely no idea where E&A are in their progress towards finding Bette. Personally, I have been taking the approach that those legs were either hers or Daniel's. I just cannot bring myself to buy into the fantastic hope that they were replications.
And there's no evidence that giving up now would set them back at all. Unlike people, dissection isn't necessarily harmful to a machine, as long as the data storage devices aren't damaged or tampered with. After all, it isn't as if she is going to bleed to death, suffocate or starve.
But I do have to agree that Andrew is going to need a really big stick to beat Enoch off of his BetteQuest.
