I agree with Xanthos on this one.  I say we suggest that he slowly and cautiously proceed directly, (no zig-zagging, sorry Xanthos, can't agree with you there) toward the tram.  I think that he should proceed with his hands held high (on Earth, it is considered the universal sign of I mean you no harm, why not on Mars).  I think that if they let him approach, he should approach to within no more than 10 meters and place the transmitter on the ground, then back off 10 more meters.  If the ETs do not make a more toward the transmitter within one minute, he should move the transmitter to within 8 meters of the tram and then retreat, repeating this process until the ETs understand that Zachary intends the transmitter as a gift, and retrieve it.  Even if they can't use it, it makes a gesture of peace.<p>Just my $.02 worth,<p>Taz
