The concept of Daniel trying to disable the transmitters for a positive reason "feels" good to me. Jealousy about their being able to talk while he could not did not seem to fit. I have not brought it up before, but I have always felt that the probes would have some kind of contingency option available in the event of a malfunctioning transmitter. If that were all that was wrong with Daniel he could have indicated it to the other probes without going into hysterics.

He left the lander "yelling and waving his arms" which suggests something happened to him. Was he hit with a beam weapon as the doors were opening? Was that what caused his strange behavior? Could the attack have damaged part of his systems such that the backup communications were affected and he had to invent "rock talk" as his means of compensating?

Hmmmm..... the probes were equiped with a basic vocabulary when they left Earth. How many words were there? If they were arranged alphabetically and numbered in sequence, would the rock talk produce coherent sentences? I wonder...
