Daniel went off by himself and possibly ran into some EBEs. If his transmitter was damaged, he couldn't have been interpreted by the EBEs as a threat. I think Daniel was trying to tell the other probes this. He went after Enoch's and Zachary's transmitters to keep them from accidentally sending something that would be interpreted as a hostile gesture by the EBEs. He knew that they wouldn't understand, and that he couldn't explain it to them, so he chose to attack them to get this done for their own good.
That's what Daniel meant by "darktalk", i.e., the probes can't use any light frequencies for communication because it will be interpreted incorrectly by the EBEs, who obviously have the capability to harm the probes. His "rocktalk" was an attempt to get an alternate means of communication going because of this.
It may be possible to communicate via light IF the message is immediately reversed; maybe it's a "neutral/no threat" code or something.
Thoughts?
