We have, actually, conflicting stories about Daniel:
The history document states that the other probes were "confused by Daniel's condition", implying that they knew Daniel and knew that something was wrong with him. According to this document, Daniel was never operational after landing.
In prior transmissions, the probes have appeared to be completely ignorant of Daniel's existence. One of them (don't remember which one) even stated that he had not seen or communicated with any probes other than the five others (which he listed by name).
Now, Gail casually mentions that she saw Daniel immediately after landing, and that he simply went off in a different direction. (She says this is _the_last_ time she saw him.)
Something is out of kilter here. Are the probes repressing something traumatic? Perhaps Gail, confronted by six compartments, could no longer maintain that there were only five probes, and came up with another cover story?
