<P>A couple of days ago, Zachary said somewhat the same thing (Except he thought Enoch to be too slow and wanted to replace him).  But Enoch and Bette are already deep into the cave.  Zachary would not be able to enter the cave until Bette actually got out.  Then there would be another delay waiting for Zachary to reach Enoch's current position.
