We need to be very careful in what we tell the probes. They are starting to get skitish about their very existence. We need to avoid subjects like "death," "damage," and "disappearance" when at all possible. When unavoidable, we have to tread very lightly and minimize the impact of what we are saying by downplaying the possibilities of these things happening. But we cannot lie to them about these things...they're smart enough to figure things out on their own. And once they've figured out that we deceived them, we lose their trust and possibly, their cooperation.
