<P>Felicitations.<p>I am now engaging WSU.<p>The fan, regardless of its use, was the cause of the disturbance that Enoch and Bette go tangled in. If it was drawing air in, it would have (well, could have) sucked them down the shaft involuntarily.  Had they encountered this before, during their Jose-directed exploring, it would explain the "It is here" exclamations.<p>Also, Enoch tried to get a picture but he said it was hard to see.
