I had asked several questions in a different post. Here are the
answers I received.
(1) Apparently they have six legs. Are they extendable /telescopic
and if so how long will they extend.
About five feet (linear) long, but they're normally folded up and then down, exactly like how a real
spider's legs fold.
(2) Grippers or claws and again can these appendages extend and how far. Also can the leg appendages actually grip anything?
3' 6" with grippers and legs will not grip anything . The hands
have four fingers arranged in a radial formation. That they fold in towards a central point.
(3) weight both when built and when on the surface of mars.
Weight on earth 110 lb , Mars weight about 42 pounds.
(4) Capabilities to do scanning of chemical compounds, breakdown and analysis of chemical compounds.
(5) Can they perform spectrum analysis of various rocks to break
down the elements etc.
An Electro chromatograph ( like a gas chromatograph but uses a 30K spark ) I don't know much about it but that is what they have.
(6) Are the probes equipped with any kind of probing device for
probing the ground in front of them?
No but both arms when used together can pick up small item and place them into the EC tray. 12.5 lb
max on each arm
(earth weight)
(7) Are the probes armed in anyway for self defense or offensive
weapons. Also are they programmed to use these weapons.
NO
(8) Can the probes illuminate or shine a spotlight or lights
and if so what is the wattage or candle power ?
A 100w - 6" neon lamp
