Yes, the authentication codes are included with every outbound transmission. The inbounds contain identification tags for each probe, however, these tags are no guarantee of accurate identity. With any normal probe, it would, as the probe can no more lie as a rock can. These probes are AIs however, they probably CAN lie ( although they've never done it to my knowledge), they probably could imitate each other, they may share their originator codes for all we know. It isn't inconceivable that one probe would tell another their code. The second probe could then imitate the first. We know the probes talk to each other (how often, about what we don't know) so they could be trading codes. Be aware of this, by the way, when uploading to a probe, by the time the reply comes EVERY probe may know what you said! I doubt Daniel has been reprogrammed, as it never acknowledged any transmissions, but it is a disturbing possibility. A very disturbing possibility.
