Carol,

Sorry I missed your question yesterday (busy shooting & didn't hit all my regular sites when I checked in last night), but to answer...No, I haven't gotten one yet. Prices seem to be falling for some models, resolution going up on others. Most any of them on the market would seem to work well enough for web work (re: Dr. D's explanation) because of the low rez/storage needs of web images, but for my purposes, a good combination of hi rez camera and good quality printing (up to 8x10 or so) is needed. That is still a bit out of my price range without a ready made market for it, but it shouldn't be long before the two meet somewhere.

I found an interesting site (actually the links from the site were MORE interesting) about digital photography and I posted a link at The Darkroom (see Uncle Bob's post) to that over there. If you follow the link, go to the resource links and look around. One of them has a lot of cameras and comparisons. Street prices run from as low as $179 to somewhere in the range of $16,000! The closest one to my needs right now is about $5000, so it'll be a while before I get one.
