So, another Heinlein fan? I should have known.
They sandbagged me over at Area 51 for criticizing the film after seeing its previews. "Top Gun Meets Alien."
They say that the author (or the author's estate) has no control over what gets to the screen once the rights are sold. Let's hope that Mrs. Heinlein got every penny they were worth.
Poor Captain Zot says the book/movie is not about the "duties and responsibilities of the citizen" living in a free society, but rather a sarcastic view of a repressive, totalitarian government.
Heinlein was 100% career military: US Navy until medical discharge. Fiercely patriotic. If I didn't know better, I'd suspect Capt. Z ditched History and Moral Philosophy. Sigh.

PS: Matt, I collect Heinlein pretty hard, too. I have some real first editions: 1040's pulp Astounding SF with stories by "Anson McDonald", "Lyle Monroe", and "John Riverside".
