I agree with you. Buying the way in is not what we are about. This is a close (NOT CLOSED) community that has become so because of the comeraderie that exists between us. Newcomers will enjoy the same once they have established themselves.

How will they establish themselves?

1. Participation in the Mess Hall and Probe Discussion boards.

Participation is more than an occasional "post in passing" but a real ernest effort to be a contributor. There is no minimum number of posts applied here; there can't be, some of us cannot post as often as we wish and we have to recognize that fact in others.

2. Sponsorship by a team member.

Current team members who either are Charter Members or have been members for at least 4 weeks can sponsor a person for membership. Sponsorship is the act of bringing forth a name and a statement of support.

3. Sponsorship by Marsdawn staff.

There may be a new face now and then that might be known to the staff and should be accorded consideration in advance of other procedures.

Since most good constitutions contain an impeachment clause, here is my suggestion:

1. Probe abuse will not be tolerated.

The first instance will result in a suspension of communication priviledges. The second instance (during the suspension) will result in a vote of team members for expulsion. A 2/3 majority will be required although a simple majority that is less than the 2/3 will result in an extended suspension.

2. Marsdawn staff abuse will not be tolerated.

Abusive remarks made to the staff of Marsdawn are inappropriate and should be dealt in the same manner as #1. In this case the team is replaced by all teams. This will serve to ensure the widest possible "jury of peers" while simultaneously ensuring that the infraction receives the widest possible advertisement as well. Peer pressure will serve us all well in this.
