SUBJECT>Attn. Everyone in disaster areas. A Plea: POSTER>Jet Star EMAIL>JetStar001@aol.com DATE>March 27, 1997 at 08:17:59 EMAILNOTICES>no PREVIOUS> NEXT> LINKNAME> LINKURL>

With Spring rains and the inevitable thaw coming, many areas around the world will undoubtably find themselves flooded, or worse. I ask every person to do there part to help ease the sufferings of those caught in the disaster. During this time the local authorities will be stressed beyond limits. So I am asking everyone to volunteer to help with the disaster relief personal, usually the RED CROSS.

From personal experience, anyone that volunteers will be accepted, even if it is just to sit at a desk to do paperwork.

If time will not allow you to volunteer, than material goods are welcomed. Floods, fires and other disasters have no respect for personal property. Clothes, blankets, household goods are destroyed and needed by the victims. With your donation of time and material, you WILL ease the suffering of the victims.

You don't need me to tell you the disasters are a strenuous for the victims and the relief workers alike. I am a volunteer for the AMERICAN RED CROSS. While the pay is lousy in monetary terms, I guarentee that the first time you see a child in a shelter, there because he just lost his home, smile at you when you hand him a cookie and a cup of hot chocolate, you will feel ten feet tall. To me, that is payment enough.

And if I still have persuaded you, isn't the key to world peace and getting along is helping the less fortunate?

Thank you

off my soapbox
