Greetings to my old friends, and to those I haven't met yet,
please allow me to introduce myself.

I go by the name Mission Control, a handle I have worn proudly on BBS systems since 1980 or so. I'm an EarthCommie from Eon-4 (although I avoided The Spot like The Plague); and have spent time at Area-51, which has been fun, but is rapidly losing interest for me.

I work at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, which is in Greenbelt, Maryland, although as Mission Control I occupy a virtual place I call "Houston". I am deeply involved in the space activist community on my own time; I'm Webmaster for the Space Frontier Foundation (www.space-frontier.org) and am Vice President for Strategic Communications for ProSpace (currently at www.space-frontier.org/ProSpace; soon moving to www.prospace.org).

On-line, I try to help keep technical facts straight and otherwise provide a scientific point of view on things, hopefully without boring everyone to death at the same time. My e-mail address is real; I'm always happy to talk tech (or anything else) on the side. You'll also probably notice that my typing skills are marginal - I manage about 20wpm, and look at the keyboard while doing my 4-fingered pecking, so please forgive the typos, extra caps, misspellings, etc. I'm a scientist, dammit, not a typist! ;-)

I'm looking forward to hanging out here with my old friends, and to making new ones. Salut!!

This is Mission Control, in Houston.
